Does it get any cuter than that?
In the second month of her life, Ruby started to recognize us a lot more. She will turn her head to look at Joe and I when we talk. And now she is trying to talk back! She loves to sit on our lap facing us and will mimic our smiles and sounds. One day I was taking photos of Ruby with my cell phone when I happened to capture her first big smile! My phone lags a bit between what it shows is the picture it took and the *actual* picture, so when this toothless grin appeared on my phone screen I gasped with delight!
She spending most of her days with her cousin Indio and Grandma Kiki, and she is really enjoying it. She comes home talking and cooing and smiling. Sometimes her and Indio team up on Kiki and plan special days. Like when they decided to dress up for the Royal Wedding.
Ruby had some other exciting adventures this past month. She took her first trip in the field with me. Just an afternoon jaunt over to Shaw Nature Reserve with my colleagues to look at the native edible wildflowers. She had a great time sleeping in the Moby while I walked around. We even successfully nursed in the Moby while hiking! Here she is posing with a four leaf clover.
She also took in her first Cardinals baseball game. She was much more alert for this milestone. She did amazingly well with all the noise, action and heat. Mark Busch Stadium down as another place we have successfully nursed. She even got a souvenir pink mini bat for her first game thanks to Grandma Kiki. We snapped this pic of her posing with the bat after the game. I am pretty sure this picture is already a classic. I definitely see this going in a yearbook someday...
Ruby is still meeting new people all the time! This month was Easter, so she formally met all of the Carrigans and Kuhlmans. Unfortunately she still has to meet the Greens and Rothrocks, but that will happen soon enough! Here she is meeting Gaga for the first time. (The original Gaga, my Aunt Marla, not the phony 'Lady Gaga' character.)
I can't wait to see how much she will continue to grow, change and learn. I cherish her at this stage in her life, and am anxious to see the next one!
