It started from a kit I ordered off of Joann's Fabrics. It was on sale, plus I had 20% coupon code. So I got the 24 box calendar kit. And when it came it was just a bunch of pieces to be put together without any instructions.
That's cool.. I figured it out. It took some sanding, some spray paint, lots of mod podge and even more kraft glue. And a little glitter of course. The actual construction is made of chipboard and the boxes are cardboard. I fitted each cardboard box with a different Christmas themed scrap book paper (that I ordered at the same time from Joann's) and glitterized the cardboard numbers that came in the kit.

I like the shabow box affect of the open middle space. I put pretty red snowflake scrap book paper back there and then mod podged two layers of white tissue paper over it to mute the pattern and colors. A little white tissue paper garland to signify snow (or because I love garland) and a Merry Christmas sign cut from, you guessed it!, my scrap book paper. Then on the bottom I couldn't help but to put a few unrolled cotton balls sprinkled with white glitter. (Actually the white glitter was left in the packaging of my white snowflakes I have in our window. I will never throw out glitter!) For the time being I just have some pictures of us that I had laying around occupying the main space.

Right now only Joe and I enjoy the calendar treats (Dove chocolates, Crunch bells, and Werther's)> In the future I can't wait of new ways to fill the boxes that will keep the Christmas spirit goin all through December!
